Eurasia / Development cooperation / Programme information SIU

The overall goal of the Eurasia programme is to contribute to renewal and internationalisation of higher education in the cooperating countries. Strategic priorities are projects focusing on curriculum development, introduction of new teaching methods or materials, quality assurance mechanisms and university management.

The programme is based on an agreement between SIU and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, running from 2010 to June 30, 2015. Project funds are allocated for the period 2011 to 2014. The total budget frame is up to 20 million NOK per year.

Who may apply?

Eligible participants in the programme are accredited higher education institutions in Norway and in the cooperating countries. Activities can vary in theme, scale and length. Both long-term cooperation projects as well as limited collaborative activities may receive support from the Eurasia programme. The projects should preferably be in line with institutional strategies and priorities, and must in any case be endorsed by the leadership at the involved institutions. Student mobility from the cooperating countries to Norway is supported through a special scholarship scheme.
